Dear family and friends,
Our second day in Haiti has been extremely memorable. We started off with a wonderful morning worship and devotion on laboring and doing God's work. Afterwards, we formed 4 different teams to work on the various projects to help NVM:
1) Housing project: 13 of our teammates are helping to build homes for long-term missionaries and full-time Haitian doctors at the clinic. The materials were donated by an organization in the US, and today we hung plywood walls, set in window trims, and hung ceiling walls. We are working along side a team of 9 students and ministry leaders from CRU in the University of Maine.
2) Fence project: 8 of our teammates are setting up a fence on one side of the camp to prevent farming animals from wandering on. It's a tough job pounding in posts and stakes and stretching wire fencing, but the team is making great progress under Farmer Bill's guidance and direction.
3) Mechanics garage project: 6 of our teammates are helping NVM's Haitian Mechanic set up his garage. It involves building some parts shelves, making a tool shadow-board, and moving some heavy equipment from the old location.
4) Energy conservation project: 2 of our teammates are working with the NVM staff to collect data on the camp's energy usage and making recommendations on the most efficient use of resources. It's a project that will have lasting impact on the ministry.
We will try to post pictures tomorrow, but hopefully this gives you an idea of how we are laboring for the Lord and his people. We also continue to play with the children during recess and even accepted a challenge by the NVM Haitian staff for a good old fashion soccer game this evening. We The American's lost, but we played very well and were impressed by our friends!
Blessings! And please keep us in your prayers!
The OCF Haiti Team is going on mission trip to Chambrun, Haiti from 9-16 March 2013 in order to faithfully live out the gospel call to love others as Christ loves us, and to encourage and share in the experiences of our brothers and sisters living and serving in Haiti. Welcome to our blog!

Our first full day
Dear family and friends,
Our first day has been awesome! But first, let us tell you a little about Saturday. Our prayers and thoughts are with our teammate Hannah who got appendicitis the day we left and could not join us. She is an awesome child of God and we know her heart is with us here. We pray for her recovery and perseverence and joy through this trial.
The rest of the team arrived in Port-Au-Prince at around 2pm. We got our bags and were transported out to Chambrun in a "tap-tap" (Haitian bus). We received an in-brief and orientation from Brandon (the mission coordinator) about NVM. The accommodations are great and everyone is quite comfortable.
Today, we attended a church service with about 300 Haitians on site. It was awesome to see their joy and faith! They certainly love to sing and love the Lord even more! Afterwards, we spent the rest of the afternoon playing with the kids and young adults from the nearby villages. Everyone played their hearts out and we started making many friends.
This day has been very moving, joyful, and fun. Praise God for this opportunity to be here!

Preparations and Prayers
Hi Friends and Family,
We are leaving bright and early on Saturday morning for our mission trip (well, Andrew is leaving tomorrow night and Farmer Bill is already driving to NY!)!
We've all been collecting items to donate to Nehemiah Vision Ministries (www.nehemiahvisionministries.org) and praying that God will use us to help in His work down in Haiti.
"For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do." Ephesians 2:10
Thank you for your prayers! Please continue to pray for our trip and check back on this blog during the week for updates! Here are some of our prayer requests:
1) That we bring the light and love of Christ with us to Haiti and sustain it throughout the whole mission.
2) For travel mercies and safety.
3) For the Nehemiah Vision Ministry and all those faithfully serving the Lord.
4) That God will work in the hearts of our team and the Haitian people.
God bless,
Elizabeth and Ben Hung
